Carino means love or affection, and when it comes to my own relationship with Spanish food, I have to say the name Carino Tapas Bar is rather apt. Decorated in a Flamenco style, the interior of Carino is unimaginative but also quite lovely. We were the only ones around at 6:15pm on a Friday night, but as it turns out we just eat extremely early. This place actually appears to be a favourite with the local families – some are just here for a Friday family dinner, while others were keen to pop the champagne (giving the rest of the diners a bit of a fright!).
Grand Trailer Park Taverna has a new baby sibling. Motorhome Majestic may be located all the way out in Ascot Vale, but it could not be more apparent that the two restaurants are related. This restaurant is all about the open road. Hollowed-out RVs have been converted into bars and kitchens. The scene is completed with grass trimmings and funky music.

That essentially translates unlimited holiday time/money, depending on what I feel like. So what’s the catch? The catch is that I’ve also nabbed myself an 85km return trip for every day that I go into work. But it’s not all bad. Although I’m in the car for 2 hours a day, that’s actually no more than how long I used to spend on public transport. Plus, this has opened up the vista of the entire western suburbs for my dining pleasure. All of…
Never judge a book by its cover, I say, except I don’t practice what I preach. I reject interesting-sounding books because it has an ugly design more often than I care to admit; I’ve even put down a book simply because I can’t stand the font and layout of the text – true story. And seeing as we’re admitting to personality flaws, I’ll admit to the fact that when I heard the name Yim Yam Thai Laos, I wasn’t exactly preparing myself for an authentic Southeast Asian dining experience.
