Really, really big news

After years of scheming and dreaming, I’ve finally nabbed myself a spot at medical school! To be precise, at the end of this year, I’ll be heading up to University of Sydney to start a new career of poking and prodding sick people.

Whilst I’m super duper excited to study medicine and check out Sydney’s food scene, I can’t pretend that I’m not also saddened to be leaving Melbourne behind. I will of course come back regularly to visit food, friends, and family, but for the time being, it looks like Sweet and Sour Fork will be turning into a Sydney food blog.

I am so grateful for all the support that everyone has shown me throughout the years, as this blog would not have been possible if it weren’t for all of my readers and long-suffering dining companions. I would of course be honoured if all my beloved readers continued to follow my foodie shenanigans, and I would like to extend a warm and preemptive welcome to all the future foodies from Sydney that I am yet to meet.

Sayonara for now Melbourne, but let’s not pretend I can stay away from you forever!

Congratulations! Glad that all the hard work has paid off! Sad that you will no longer be reviewing Melbourne restaurants weekly, but looking forward to hearing all about the Sydney food scene. Enjoy all the good Thai food, my Sydney friend’s favourite is Holy Basil, and I can’t wait to see what you think about it!

Hi Beini, thank you so much for your kind words :) I’ll definitely be hitting up all the Thai restaurants in Sydney – it’s a shame the Thai food here is nowhere near as good, but I’ll miss Melbourne for sure. I reckon I’ll be looking for recommendations from you for the times I come back to visit!

So happy for you that you got into med school, but now I won’t know what hot spots in Melbourne to hit. :(

Thank you so much! I’ve wanted to be a doctor since I was 10 so it is literally a dream come true :) I’ll definitely be coming back to Melbourne to try the new and exciting places, but maybe you’ll have to give me some recommendations instead!

Hi Nean, thank you so much! Chris is definitely coming with – can’t leave the man behind! – and we absolutely plan on getting married down the track, we’re just in no rush, especially with 4 years of med school looming. When we do get hitched though, you’ll be the first to know! xx :)
