Moby is your quintessential little cutie pie local brunch spot. With a large communal dining room, a light-splashed mezzanine, and a rooftop courtyard for those warm weekends, there’s good vibes here for every occasion. The food also hits the right note – classic with a twist, and some more indulgent options for a special treat. The only downside? The service. Turns out all the people who I usually write off as grumps on Google Reviews were right – the staff truly seem to be having a bad time. Now, I’m as bummed about work as the next person, and no one should have to smile if they don’t want to, but surely not making your customers feel unwelcome is the bare minimum for a restaurant?

Rating: 12/20 – would love if not for the service.
To-order: try the porridge, it’s all kinds of sticky and comforting on a cold winter day.

Chilli Scrambled Eggs ($23.5)

Chilli Scrambled Eggs ($23.5) are a dime a dozen these days, but one thing this one has over the others is portion size. There is so much egg here, and it’s mixed through with meaty chunks of bacon, as well as a hefty dose of spring onion to cut through the richness. It’s not groundbreaking, but if you’re after a scramble, this will undoubtedly leave you satisfied.

Apple Pie Porridge ($20)

Apple Pie Porridge ($20)

On a cold day however, you really can’t go past the Apple Pie Porridge ($20). Cooked to just the right sticky, rib-hugging consistency, and mixed through with chunks of cinnamon-infused stewed apple, this is what all oatmeal should strive to be.

Skim Flat White ($4.7)

The coffee here’s pretty reasonable too, my Skim Flat White ($4.7) more than robust enough to get the job done.
